INTERNATIONAL CRAFTS FESTIVAL DILIJAN

In July 20-21, in Dilijan the “2nd International Crafts Festival” will take place.

For two days Dilijan will become the unique environment where various directions of crafts and arts will be presented, about 40 masters from Armenia and abroad will participate, demonstrating their handicrafts.

In parallel with the events organized in Dilijan City park, a number of local cultural and craft organizations and individuals will join the festival, spreading the spirit of crafts everywhere.

The International Crafts Festival will take place in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and Hovhannes Sharambeyan Museum of Folk Arts. It is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

This festival is an important initiative aimed at safeguarding and attaching great importance to the intangible cultural heritage in the communities of Armenia and will contribute to the enlivening of community life, the participation of society, the evaluation of the place and role of arts and crafts, as well as the promotion of cultural tourism.

In the frame of the festival there will be two-day colorful cultural events, exhibitions of the works of various crafts and arts, workshops on rug weaving, embroidery, doll making, woodworking, ceramics, performances of tightrope walkers and musical groups, tasting of various dishes of traditional cuisine, a special program for children.
