The UNESCO International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage is celebrated annually in Armenia on this symbolic day, highlighting the role of intangible cultural heritage in the spiritual, cultural, and creative life of society.

The celebratory events have expanded from year to year, bringing together state and non-governmental institutions active in the field of intangible cultural heritage, creative groups and bearers. In this way, the importance of safeguarding, transmitting, and promoting heritage is further emphasized, while public awareness of the safeguarding, dissemination, and transmission of cultural heritage is also enhanced.

This year, the initiative has been joined by the communities of the Republic of Armenia, including state, educational, and cultural institutions, such as museums and libraries, as well as non-governmental organizations and individuals.

In keeping with the significance of the day, a variety of cultural events will be held in communities, including exhibitions, performances, master classes, and dance and music programmes. These activities aim to highlight and celebrate the values of intangible cultural heritage elements inscribed on the national inventory of the Republic of Armenia and on UNESCO’s lists.
