On April 22, the History Museum of Armenia, in cooperation with the Department of Dance Pedagogy and Methodology of Teaching Dance at the Khachatur Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University, hosted the presentation of the second volume of the monograph Ancient Dances and Theatrical Performances of the Armenian People by Dr. Sc. Hist., choreographer, founder of the Armenian school of dance studies, and Honored Scientist Srbuhi Lisitsian.
The book is dedicated to the centuries-old dance, verbal, and musical arts of the Armenian people, with a particular focus on folk dances and theatrical performances preserved from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The Armenian edition was translated by Hakob Soghomonyan, while the entire project was coordinated and edited by Professor Karen Gevorgyan.
Speeches were delivered by Davit Poghosyan, PhD in History, Associate Professor and Director of the History Museum of Armenia; Naira Kilichyan, Chief Specialist of the Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, PhD in Art History and ethnochoreologist; Karen Gevorgyan, Professor, Head of the Department of Dance at the Pedagogical University, President of the National Dance Union of Armenia and Artistic Director of the Berd Dance Ensemble; Komitas scholar Artur Shahnazaryan; and writer and translator Hakob Soghomonyan.
